Mountain information disclaimer

Mountain conditions can change faster than a reference website can be updated. Use Giant Mountains to understand context, then verify current information before acting on it.

Route and climbing information

Descriptions of normal routes, activity classifications and common seasons provide general context. They are not route-finding instructions, guidebooks or assessments of current safety. Snow, ice, rockfall, crevasses, storms, heat, closures and human factors can alter a route quickly.

Weather estimates

The temperature estimator uses a simplified lapse-rate calculation. It does not forecast wind, precipitation, thunderstorms, visibility, avalanche conditions or local temperature inversions. Use current mountain-specific forecasts and local observations for real trips.

Altitude information

Altitude and acclimatization information is educational. The site does not diagnose Acute Mountain Sickness, High Altitude Cerebral Edema, High Altitude Pulmonary Edema or any other medical condition, and it does not recommend medication or dosage. Seek appropriate medical advice for individual health questions.

Permits and regulations

Permit summaries can become outdated when authorities change fees, route access, reservation systems, guide requirements or protected-area rules. Check the official issuing authority before travel.

Emergency decisions

Do not use this website as an emergency service. In an emergency, follow local rescue procedures and contact the appropriate local emergency or mountain-rescue authority.
