Mount Shinn is one of Antarctica's highest mountains and forms part of the central Sentinel Range near Mount Vinson. Its position within the Ellsworth Mountains places it in the best-known high-mountain region of the continent, but it receives only a fraction of Vinson's traffic. Broad glaciated valleys separate the major peaks, while steep ridges and snow faces define the upper mountain.
